The Mango Julep is the perfect summer cocktail. Fruity, spicy and a bit sour.
This delicious mango cocktail will instantly put you in a summer mood. We refined the classic Mint Julep by adding mango and spices into a fruity and livelier variant of this cocktail. The exotic touch will awaken wonderful memories of your last holidays in Thailand and makes you feel like sitting on the beach. The bourbon gives the cocktail this colonial, classical taste and the pink pepper adds some extra flavor, making this drink so special. We hope that you will enjoy this cocktail as much as we do.
Comment: When you buy the mango, please make sure that you get a nice ripe fruit. Ripe mangos have small black dots on the shell, emit a sweet scent and have a soft feel. Should there be only unripe fruits available, wrap the fruit in a newspaper and place it next to an apple. This will speed up the ripening. Never put the mango in a fridge as this will deprive its taste.

Ingredients
- 3 cl bourbon
- 20 g coriander infused sugar syrup
- 20 ml fresh lime juice
- 150 g puréed mango
- 20 ml fresh lemon juice
- pink peppercorns
Instructions
Coriander infused sugar syrup
The best way to prepare a syrup for cocktails is to boil water together with sugar in the ratio 1:2. This thick version of a simple syrup intensifies the taste of your cocktail and doesn’t dilute it as much as weak syrups do.
- 250 ml water
- 500 g crystal sugar
- 1 tbsp. slightly crushed coriander seeds
Just put the water, the crushed coriander seeds and the sugar in a pan and heat them up. As soon as the water boils, slightly reduce the heat and let the sugar dissolve. Keep the liquid boiling and thickening until it feels like you are stirring syrup. Make sure that the sugar doesn’t caramelize and don’t let your syrup become too thick. Once finished, pour the syrup through a sieve in a glass bottle and store it in the refrigerator. Unopened, the syrup is usable up to half a year and after opening the bottle, for about 6 weeks.
Mix the Mango Julep
Prepare all the ingredients and mix the mashed mango with both the lemon and the lime juice. Then pour the mango-lime-lemon mixture with the sugar syrup, the bourbon and 6 ice cubes into a shaker. Shake the cocktail well to ensure that the sugar syrup mixes up with the other ingredients. Afterwards, reuse your sieve and pour everything in the arranged glasses (without the ice cubes) and sprinkle some pink peppercorns on the surface. Et voilà it’s ready to serve. Enjoy!
