Salsiccia rolls with kale-condiment

by Joëlle Terrien

The best finger food for your next party with your friends!

Do you generally like sausage rolls but find them always a bit boring? Here is a version that will make your taste buds dance: We combine the super tasty Italian sausage called “Salsiccia” with fennel seeds, spicy peperoncino paste and some kale-condiment. Fresh salsiccia and peperoncino paste should be available in every good Italian deli shop and the kale-condiment may easily be made at home (by combining kale, olive oil, sesame seeds and some chili). In addition, we use oregano springs from the garden and pink peppercorns to decorate the rolls and add an additional layer of taste.

Have fund and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp kale-condiment
  • oregano
  • peperoncino paste
  • 2 fennel-salsiccia sausages
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

Cut the puff pastry into two equally sized pieces that you can easily wrap the sausages. Spread some peperoncino paste on the middle part of each piece, add a good portion of the kale-condiment and some chopped oregano leaves and make sure that you leave out the outer edges of the pastry. Then place the fennel salsiccia in the middle, fold one half of the puff pastry over to the other and press the edges together with a fork so that no liquid can escape. Now you should have a nice decorative border all around. If the puff pastry is too large, cut off the overlapping pieces. Then brush the top of the puff pastry with egg yolk, sprinkle a little oregano and pink pepper over it and place the pieces in the preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 25 minutes.
